   These are a few of my favorite books on writing.
    For the beginner I strongly recommend Debra Dixon's book and use many of her principles in my Character Development and Dynamic Plotting Bootcamps. Sometimes, at first, it can seem simplistic, but like all great writing, the simple is often the most powerful. If you take the time to master these principles, you'll already be on your way to becoming a master storyteller.    Vogler's book is more philosophical, based as it is on Joseph Campbell's groundbreaking work on the power of myth. Be careful, though, because during the first read you may end up using the information to figure out your own life rather than those of your characters. You can get the best price on this book at Amazon.com and if you combine your shopping you can avoid shipping charges.
   Jack Bickham's Scene & Structure is filled with classic and wonderful guidelines for writing strong commercial fiction. This is not the easiest book to wade through unless you've already had some exposure to the principles of scene and sequel, but this book is the foundation of the material I teach in by Scene Sculpting Bootcamp. Here, too, Amazon is your busy bet for a bargain.     by Karl Iglesias is a screenwriter, a field that relies heavily on the power of dialogue to build mood, setting and relationships. WRITING FOR EMOTIONAL IMPACT is not only easy and interesting to read, it has a multitude of tips to help writers get it right. There are very few good books on writing dialogue and this one is at the top of the list.
