TO ENROLL IN A BOOTCAMP NOW!

Dear Students and Potential Students,

The material below is my stock biography and I'm not sure there's much more to add. I do, however, have a family and hobbies outside of writing. To see the more personal side of me, check out my personal Facebook page or follow me on Twitter @connieflynn as well as @bootcamp4novel.

You'll soon notice that I have friends and family and manage to keep in touch no matter how much I complain that I work too much. As mentioned in my last update I've recently moved to Mesa Community College and eventually that will probably be my main college home. It's a much shorter drive.

Last, and probably least, if you're still dying to find out who I am I have a blog. It was once. except for my occasional rant, devoted mostly to Bootcamp stuff, which was the case with Linda, too, but it wasn't serving either purpose very well. So . . . big news we combined them into a new and much improved blog called The Bootcamp Bunker. The name was Linda's brainchild. Don't you just love it? She designed the banner too, so go take a peek.

Anyway, that freed Connie's Corner, my Bootcamp blog, free to let me express myself. I will be moving it from Blogger to Wordpress very shortly, but for now this is my home, and the truth is I've been blogging more about personal stuff than the Bootcamp lately, so . . . if you want to catch up . . . Oh never mind, I'm just saying. But if you still want to know my teaching and writing credentials, keep scrolling on down and you can also check out my personal website and if you're thinking about buying one of my books, well, I'll just make it easy for you.

My Credentials and Extra Stuff

I've been teaching fiction writer for nearly fifteen years and am in my seventh year with Phoenix College's highly praised Creative Writing Department. I have also taught for Arizona State University's Virginia G. Piper Creative Writing Center and have recently returned to teaching at Mesa Community College, where I began.

I've written twelve novels — a half dozen or so for Harlequin that include action/adventure, romantic suspense, and comedy. Plus, four paranormal romances for Penguin/Putnam, which took me into the mainstream market. I've been told I write pager turners and my paranormal romances routinely hit best seller lists and finaled in national contests. My most recent published novel, THE DRAGON HOUR, won the coveted PRISM Award for best time travel of the year

My first ever short story, Old Bones, was published in the mystery anthology MAP OF MURDER, which received an Indy Award for best mystery anthology. ( I based a screenplay on Old Bones, and it is patiently waiting revision. Another short story, There's a Dead Elf in Santa's Workshop, was accepted for inclusion in our local Sisters in Crime chapter's Christmas Anthology HOW NOT TO SURVIVE THE HOLIDAYS, out last year. Last years I wrote a third short story, Murder at the Toadstool Cafe, was published in the 2010 anthology, HOW NOT TO SURVIVE A VACATION.

Recently I had the fortune to get back the rights for my first paranormal romance werewolf series. SHADOW ON THE MOON and SHADOW OF THE WOLF are now available in Kindle and SHADOW ON THE MOON will feature a print version through Create Space Publishing. My earlier Harlequin novels, which span the gamut of ranch, business, homespun, adventure and comedy, are also coming back. Right now two of my later romances, 40 TONS OF TROUBLE (the adventure if you hadn't guessed) and ONLY COUPLES NEED APPLY). They are available in Harlequin's ebook store and also on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com

I love writing! I love teaching! I am grateful for the privilege to do both.

I believe creativity is coaxed from students through an atmosphere of support and encouragement. New writers need form and structure as a roadway to express this creativity, but must be careful not to be a slave it. My aim is to present this structure and provide a venue for mastering it. My personal goal is to inspire students to love writing and leave them excited about their progress in mastering the tools of fiction writing, while not taking themselves too seriously. "We're not writers," I say. "We're re-writers. So don't worry about first drafts. It's the last draft that counts."

At ease,

Connie
